The Rhino in the Room Film Festival is taking place in November of 2011 in Lethbridge, Alberta Canada. It is a visual space for artists to express and highlight experiences relating to queer issues. This festival will showcase the incredible diversity of queer issues and artists working in Canada and internationally. We invite you to submit work for consideration.
We desire films and videos, about or of interest to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual or queer identifying individuals.
- We desire work that challenges stereotypes and pre-assigned gender identities,
- We desire work that pokes at and tears away hetero-normative narratives,
- We desire work that pushes boundaries, provokes thought and arouses the senses,
- We desire work that discusses gay rights (adoption, marriage, military, community)
- or that chronicles, expresses, relates, and describes human right violations; serious and heartbreaking issues such as bullying, discrimination, harassment, and hate crimes,
- We desire work that expresses and celebrates our lives, loves and desires.
We encourage all independent, D.I.Y, no/low budget filmmakers, students, professionals, film enthusiasts and those who just love film to submit shorts or full feature experimental, narrative, visual poetry, documentary, live action, claymation, stop motion…and anything else we might have left out.

Hello,
I’m interested in applying for a submission and I’m just wondering if you have any time limits for the shorts. I have a 5 minute short and would very much like to submit it but I’m worried with the time limits that you’ve got, if you have one.
Thanks
We have no limits on the length a film must be to be screened at the festival. Last year we screened a film that was 1 minute. We look forward to seeing your film!
